A letter Arthella wrote to her family, August 12, 1980

Dear family,
I mean that literally. You are my jewels, my only wealth. Since Sunday, the day of my farewell, my mind has been continually dwelling upon how very blessed I am to have such a family.  I am still wondering why the Lord trusted one so weak as I to be the mother of so many choice spirits.
I thought when things quieted down after my farewell, I could go back to studying and preparing for my mission call. Yet every time I start to do some memorizing I cannot concentrate. My mind keeps going back to the family.  I have finally come to the realization that perhaps there is something more important to do at this time.
I had intended to talk with you at our family meeting Sunday.  Settling the business problems took so long, I forgot.  Perhaps it was just as well as my emotions would probably made speaking very difficult.
Sunday evening, Gerald mentioned that Brother Martin, who is a member of the bishopric, made the remark that he couldn't how there happened to be so much talent in one family.  Without any hesitation I replied that I knew because this is a special family.
As most of you already know, in a special blessing given to your Dad by Patriarch Nash, he was told that "Satan has been told hands off because this family is mine."
At that time this statement hit me very forcibly.  I reflected upon it again.  I felt the extreme responsibility of raising such a family.  As time went by this fact seeded to have slipped to the back of my mind.  Consequently I failed to do many of the things I should have done and also made may mistakes for which I am truly sorry.  However, I didn't completely forget, and recently my mind has dwelt a great deal upon this very thing.  With all my heart, I know this is a special family and that special persons have been brought into it through marriage.  The Lord has some very special callings to be fulfilled by members of the family, probably more important than you realize at this time.  Your talents and abilities are varied. Thus the Lord has different responsibilities for each of you.  Please try to understand this and do all you can to support, help, and build up each other.  As a family, become one.  In your individual families, wives support and help your husbands . Husbands, support and help your wives.  Build and teach those precious children that the Lord has trusted to your care.  Remember to always set the prayer example for them.  Strive for peace and harmony in your homes. Radiate love for each other and your children.  Stay close to the Church and your Heavenly Father so that you may be able to withstand all temptations. Study the scriptures and pray sincerely that your paths will be guided and that you will not be deceived   Strive to prepare yourselves in every way so as to be ready and worthy for the callings the Lord has in store for you. Remember that your talents were given to you to use for the good of all, to build up the Kingdom of God here on the earth and not to receive the glory of man personally.
Once again, let me stress how important it is that you help and build each other up.  That you strive to sty close together.
Remember that with all my heart I love each of you.  I pray that the Lord will bless, guide and help each of you to reach your potential, that you may be able to fulfill your missions here upon the earth in an acceptable manner to your Heavenly Father.
                                      With all my love,
                                               Mom  (Arthella Hunsaker Williams)

Hunsaker Coat of Arms
Traditions of the Hunsaker family
Origin of the Name
The following information on the origin of the Hunsaker name is quoted from the Valentine Hunsicker Geneology:
In the center of the Black Forest about 70 miles from Zurich, some Huns, probably during the time of Atilla's invasion, made their headquarters. This tribe left it's name on landmarks: Hunruck (ridge); Hunsback (creek); etc. Among them is Hunseck, or Huns valley.  The German name ecke, or corner, is common in valley locations in the Black Forrest (Schwarzwald).  It has come to mean the end of the valley that widens out.  There are Longeck (Long Valley); ???heck (Red  Valley); and Hunseck (Huns Valley).
The large part of the family names in this part of the world are derived from the locality with which the early stock was identified.  We easily infer that the name Hunsiker came from Hunseck.

The Hunsaker Coat of Arms
A pen sketch of the Hunsaker Coat of Arms was among the notes and papers that Gertrude G. Baird sent to Joseph Hunsaker, son of Abraham, following his visit to Switzerland about 1885.  Mrs. Baird was a Swiss-German who was hired by Joseph to do research for the Hunsaker family.  She found the coat of arms in the archives at Aargau, Switzerland.
Later in 1935, Meltrude and Orpha Hunsaker Stohl hired Mrs. Baird to reproduce the coat of arms in its original colors. Mrs. Baird also sent the following explanation of the meaning of the Hunsaker Coat of Arms:
The main figure in the Shield is the Canine or Mastiff. That figure signifies Courage and Tenacity. It also signifies trustworthyness and Devotion.
